Lookup Mahoning County Inmate Records

Mahoning County inmate records for current adult jail custody are searched through the county sheriff's roster. A Mahoning County jail roster search can show booking, custody, offense, bond, housing, and release fields when the person is active in local jail custody. The same search is not a complete court file, juvenile record, state prison file, or federal detention record. To look up Mahoning County inmates online, start with the adult roster, then use the jail phone line, records channel, ODRC locator, federal locator, ICE locator, or VINE when the roster does not match the custody type.

Mahoning County Jail Roster

The official adult jail lookup is the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office Public Inmate Info system. The sheriff's office page identifies Jerry Greene as Mahoning County Sheriff, and the sheriff's office operates the adult jail records system. The roster is free, requires no login, and states that it shows only current active inmates. That makes it the first place to check when an arrest may have led to custody at the Mahoning County Justice Center. It is not a permanent archive.

Mahoning County inmate records on the roster can include people arrested by Youngstown police, Boardman police, Struthers police, the Sheriff's Office, ICE, USMS, or other agencies when they are housed in the local jail. The arresting agency field does not always mean that the county court controls release. A federal or immigration hold, a detainer, or a court order can affect custody even when the person appears in the county jail system.

Use Mahoning County Inmate Search

A strong search starts broad, then narrows. The roster accepts at least one search criterion, so a last name alone may work. Add first name, age, status, race, or gender when the result set is too large. The report buttons can also help when the exact spelling is not known. Show All Active Inmates displays the current roster, Recent Bookings focuses on new custody entries, and Recent Releases points to people who have recently left active custody.

  1. Open the sheriff's public inmate information system and enter at least one search field.
  2. Use Last Name first, then add First Name or Age if the name is common.
  3. Use Status to separate pretrial, sentenced, other, or mixed custody records.
  4. Open the inmate name from the results card to view the detail profile.
  5. Call general information or the Records Division if the profile is missing needed detail.

The sheriff's inmate information page links the roster, deposits, visitation, handbook, and jail contact channels.

That official page is a useful fallback when a roster result answers custody status but the next task is money, visits, phone accounts, or jail policy.

Mahoning County Roster Search Fields

The Mahoning roster has more filters than many local jail indexes. It exposes status, race, and gender dropdowns along with name and age fields. It also lets users sort by name, newest booking, oldest booking, or newest release and change the number of inmates per page. These controls are helpful because the roster is card-based and can return many matches for a common name.

Mahoning County Inmate Profile Fields

A roster detail page is more than a name and charge list. The sample public profile showed a front booking image, physical attributes, booking and inmate numbers, assigned location, assigned pod, status, security level, offense, bond amount, bond type, next court date, and court fields. The sample also showed an ICE arresting agency and a federal immigration offense, which is a reminder that local custody may be tied to federal or immigration authority.

Mahoning County Record Access Chain

The online roster is the fastest access channel, but it is not the only channel. The sheriff's inmate page says to call 330-480-5000 for more information about an inmate than the site provides. Jail Administration is listed at 330-480-4920, and the Records Division is listed at 330-480-5030. The sheriff's records page confirms mail request practice for sheriff records at the same Fifth Avenue address, including a self-addressed stamped envelope for mailed reports.

Mahoning County Booking Records

Booking is the administrative intake after arrest. The Mahoning inmate handbook says the booking process is standard for all people regardless of the charge or length of confinement and must be completed before release. It includes classification into an assigned housing unit using custody-level criteria. The jail uses minimum, medium, and maximum classifications. People with physical or mental impairments are instructed to tell medical staff and the housing unit deputy.

Property handling is part of the local booking record. If a person is not immediately released, property is inventoried, receipted, and secured. Money is deposited into the inmate account for commissary. Jewelry and valuables are locked in the property room, and remaining balances and property are returned at release. New property is not accepted without a court order. For transfer to prison, the inmate must designate someone to pick up property before leaving, and abandoned property is handled after the stated holding period.

Classification
Jail assignment by security and housing needs.
Detainer
A hold from another agency that may affect release.
Pod
A housing unit or jail location shown on Mahoning profiles.
Pretrial
Custody before final case outcome.

Mahoning County Visitation Records

The Justice Center visitation PDF lists 30-minute blocks by housing unit and says each inmate is afforded 30 minutes of visiting time per week. O Pod administrative-segregation visits are scheduled one at a time during assigned hours. Video visitation uses Securus or Video Visit Anywhere and must be approved at least 24 hours in advance. The rules also state that use of the system constitutes consent to monitoring and recording.

Mahoning County Inmate Contact

The sheriff inmate page links JailATM for online deposits and lists Inmate Commissary at 330-480-4955. Securus Technologies is the telephone provider, and family or friends can set up phone accounts through Securus or by calling 1-800-844-6591. Calls are subject to monitoring and recording. Mail and package rules are more limited: packages are not accepted without pre-approval, family and friends may not send clothes, shoes, or books from home, and mail that threatens jail security can be censored.

Note: Confirm active custody before sending money or scheduling a visit, because release, transfer, or another-agency hold can change access.

Mahoning County State Federal Lookup

Search paths change after transfer or sentencing. ODRC Offender Search covers people currently incarcerated in Ohio prisons, under Department supervision, or judicially released. It allows name, county of commitment, residential county or ZIP for supervision and violators at large, next parole board month, or offender number. BOP Inmate Locator covers federal sentenced inmates from 1982 to present. ICE ODLS can be searched by A-number or by name, country of birth, and birth date for adult immigration detention.

Mahoning Sheriff App Records

The Mahoning Sheriff app is another local channel. The sheriff's records page and county material say the app is free through the App Store or Google Play search and can be reached through the county's app share link. Advertised features include jail information and local inmates, crash reports, tips, alerts, sex offender search, most wanted, social media, news, and events. It should be treated as a convenience channel, not as a replacement for the official roster or records office.

The sheriff records and app page screenshot shows the Records Division mail instructions and the app feature list in the same official public-services area.
